later he freelanced in broadcast design around greater
Los Angeles.

Leonhardt:Fitch. At Fitch, he produced branding, print and interactive,
for a wide range of international and local clients.

While continuing to work full-time through 2006,
Jay also partnered to start Lyssna Audio, a product-based audio manufacturing
company. He introduced his knowledge of branding and design strategy to
guide the company toward an eco-conscious, high design position that was
unique in the marketplace.
In 2007, after working at the Attik for a few years, Jay moved to Method
as an Art Director. At Method, he creatively lead high level user interface
design projects, for mobile and advanced TV,
while also working in brand experience and
design strategy.
During this period of his career, he also began teaching Experimental
Typography at the graduate level for The Academy of Art University. Teaching
students the keys to creative design thinking and how to apply those skills
outside of design, is an important focus of the course.
